This is a screen shot of the Menu-Places on my Desktop. I do not have any Music in that folder:
As I was saying you can Add/Remove programs, here is a screen shot of the Add/Remove Utility. You are probably wondering why is this such a big deal to you? I have always tried using Linux throughout the years, but for new user's to computer's or people who just have a very limited knowledge of computer's I felt that Linux was just to complicated. I enjoyed messing with them, but I was always doing it to see if it was ready to compete with Windows. I think this Ubuntu is very close, not Windows but as close as it gets right now. With all the other Linux software I have tried throughout the years, you had to use RPM Packages and the Package Manager. When I would install RPM's before using the command line or Manager, I would sometimes run into dependence problems, that is a nightmare, that problem is eliminated with this Utility. This Add/Remove Utility and the Automation of installs for a new user is a big step to getting new users to at least try Linux. Here is the screen shot of the Add/Remove:
I was talking about Photoshop and Gimp. Here is a screen shot of GIMP, I used it to edit these pictures:
Well that's about it for now, I will post more as I use Ubuntu. If you are looking for something different then Windows give this a try, I would suggest trying the Live CD first, with the Live DVD/CD you can try it with your Windows machine, it does not install unless you click the Install Icon on the Ubuntu Desktop. It runs off the DVD or CD depending on what you burn the ISO to. You will probably have to change the Boot Sequence in your BIOS to Boot to the DVD/CD first if it is present. What I did was I unhooked my XP Pro drive and connected another spare drive up to the IDE cable and then installed Ubuntu, that way I did not have to deal with a Boot Manager and all I have to do to use my XP Pro drive is hook it back up to the IDE cable. You do have to download ISO Images and then burn them to a CD, I burned mine to a DVD and it worked fine. Here is a link to a How To on burning ISO Images
Link to How To and here is a link to the
Ubuntu Website.
